The Heather Bogle Case: Why Police Ignored the Real Killer for Years

Today we hear the Heather Bogle case. This 28-year-old mother from Ohio disappeared in 2015 after leaving work. we investigate the tragic 2015 disappearance of a 28-year-old mother from Clyde, Ohio. When Heather Bogle’s body was discovered in the trunk of her car, there was evidence - DNA - which should have led straight to the killer. Instead, the investigation was derailed by the county's Sheriff Department and the misconduct of Lead Detective Sean O’Connell.

* Heather disappeared on April 9, 2015, after clocking out of her night shift at the Whirlpool plant.

* Investigators found Heather in her own vehicle. In the trunk. She had been beaten, shot twice, and her hair and nails had been cut to remove DNA.

* Detective O’Connell publicly named "persons of interest" despite knowing their DNA did not match the evidence found at the scene.

* The case stalled during while Detective O'Connell had control of the case, and his superior, Sheriff Kyle Overmyer, who was later sentenced to prison for stealing medications from evidence.

* In 2017, new Sheriff Chris Hilton restarted the investigation, using Google GPS data to link the crime to a trailer in the Emerald Estates park.

Did they ever locate the actual killer? And what happened to O'Connell? Was he ever punished for what he did?
